Review

I ordered that movie and I havent even seen the second episode of this now Quadrilogy of Korean horror classic. In fact I've watched all 4 movies in 3 days. A friend of mine says the second part (Memento Mori) is by far the greatest. But to me, having watched all 4 back to back, I have to say that the 4th one... this one, is my favorite.

Whispering Corridors 4, is about a girl that gets killed, and wakes up the next morning as a ghost haunting the school, not understanding why she has been killed, she "haunts" the school trying to figure out why and who killed her. Only her closest friend can her her voice (thus the alternate titles: Ghost Voice, The Voice). And so the story is told from a different angle than all the other types of "Ghost haunts Innocent Girl" movies... This time we take quite an original twist in following the ghost from it's perspective.

Now I really loved the new take on the whole ghost story movie, where instead we get to follow the ghost as it struggle to contact friends and tries to scare others. But the only major draw back that this new twist brings is the lack of Thrills and Chills. Having of follow the ghost, the humans arent quite scary at all, and this is the major problem in this movie. Those looking to see a follow up to the good Whispering Corridors trilogy will be disapointed because this movie offer almost None of what the serie used to bring so far. The opening scene is pretty much all the chills you'll ever get in the movie. Yes quite disapointing but still I think the move is pretty good, and even the best in the Whispering Corridors franchise.

What this movie lacks in horror genre, gains in suspence, drama and story telling. Like I said I prefered this movie, which doesnt use all them cliché that most (if not all) other horror movies use every time. I think this movie was somewhat a fresh new take on an old genre that has been used way too much, I really liked it. Althought Telling you more of the movie will spoil the story which the movie really emphasize on.

All I can say is it's a Great Movie, good cast, great ambiance, great score (I Love that song the girl sings), great bold new way to show us a diffrent side of the medal, not so good of a horror movie but nice suspence movie.

Avoid if you're looking for a Horror movie, on the other hand check that movie if you're looking for an original take on a used up genre.

Cast: 4/5
Story: 4/5
Originality: 5/5

3 out of 5
(minus 2pts simply because It wasnt scary... at all... I mean the covers and preview of the movie lead to believe that this movie is quite scary, which isnt at all... All the best moments of the movie except for the climax end scene is shown in the trailer)
