Synopsis

KU Dong-hyuk is the worst scumbag you can ever imagine. Living a low-life existence like a street dog, one day, Dong-hyuk gets kidnapped by a mysterious gang. Held captive for no reason, Dong-huk is repeatedly trained by the gang in a secret and inhumane way. Dong-hyuk tries to escape but fails, which makes the training more harsh and cruel than before. After finishing all the training, the gang orders Dong-hyuk to become a police detective as their secret connection.

Review

One of those movies I never head about and I just bought it for fun and perhaps find a new gem.

The Story’s about a guy, school drop out, thievery, street fights, extortions… he’s the worst of his kind. One day that guy is kidnapped by a bunch of Yakuza and against his will they make him go to school… only the Yakuzas are the teachers and whenever he refuse whatsoever, he is tortured. Whenever the guy tries to escape, he is caught back and the training gets much harder. After the training (both normal school exams and extremely hard physical traning) the Yakuzas enlist the guy into Police school and the Yakuzas do whatever they have to so that the guy gets high in the police ranks and so the guy understand that the Yakuzas are making him as a Mole in the police ranks. And so the guy has to make a decision, payback the Yakuzas for all that torturing but joining the police, or stay the Yakuza’s dog.

The story was quite original and was quite both pleased and surprised by it. All the characters developments and personality plays a great deal in the movie and is all presented nicely in the story. Everything progress in such a nice pace that the movie is quite captivating and entertaining from beginning to the end. As for the acting I have nothing to say about it, they’re pretty good if not perfect for each role. The movie mix a bit of humour, action, suspense, and detective type of movies and blends altogether perfectly.

I really enjoyed the movie which also reminded me a bit of the movie Public Enemy which I also enjoyed greatly. I’d recommend this movie for those looking for a good Detective/Action movie the likes of Infernal Affairs & Public Enemy.

Story: 4/5
Acting: 4/5
Entertainment: 5/5

Overall: 4½/5
Quite entertaining, highly recommended!
