ReviewThe movie begins with one man being executed in prison and another being assassinated in his car, you cut to the titles which roll, you then go to the morgue where most of the movie is spent. The first autopsy is a lady and its quite graphic with them taking samples then stitching her back up. You then go back to the prison to another inmate who’s on death row, played by Anthony Wong. You see the hit man again that nails another target and in between the tales that occur ending up with people in the morgue. You learn more about the customs and the processes that take place within the morgue and the people that carry out these procedures. At one point a man gets brought in killed by the triads in their traditional way which I must say is quite a nasty punishment. You keep flashing between stories outside the morgue and you see their life before death. The people at the morgue are not surprisingly sombre but methodical about their job and you get to find out a little about them as individuals as you follow them outside work. We catch up with Sammo at one point who’s also plays a prisoner. The stories get more interlinked when the triads kill the son off one of the morgue workers, well I think he’s his son but not 100% sure but its over the fact that he wont do some fake autopsy results for the triads. The film itself is quite a sombre affair and not a lot actually happens but its surprising intriguing, keeping you interested all the time and makes you think a little as well. Anthony Wong play as decent roll along with a cast of other well known stars. Its got something about it, can’t really say what but a feeling that manages to raise its head and creates an impressive picture.
