ReviewSponsored by DDDHouse.com OK, well what can I say about The Boy from Hell. First off the back cover of the DVD claims that this film is 95 minutes long... it isn't even close, only 51 minutes. I must say I am pretty thankful that it was only 50 minutes. This is 1 of 6 films in the "Hideshi Hino's Theatre of Horror" series; these are clearly very cheaply made, and all based on manga by Hideshi Hino. The boy from Hell starts off quite promisingly when Daio a seemingly very clever young boy is travelling in the car with his mother and some dude. He has his head out of the window and it gets rather amusingly taken off by a passing truck... we are treated to a scene of Daio staggering about in a headless chicken stylie. Well it made me laugh out loud I must confess:) We seem to then jump to what is obviously the kids grave... which for some reason seems to be in the middle of nowhere and this mad old bint tells the upset mother that she can bring him back if she kills a kid of similar age with a fang she's wabving about and lets his blood drip on the grave! Now it seems that Daio's Ma is a doctor, and wracked with grief she decides to take some unsuspecting kid from the hospital (who only has 10 days to live so it's all OK) tie him upside down above the grave and stab him in the throat with said fang... much blood spurts from the kid and before you know it Daio is digging his way out of the grave. Only he's a right mess and attacks the old woman (The old woman reckons he's been dead too long, I would have thought the fact he had his head off probably didn't help... though his head is now back on but messed up and swollen!) So here we have it, a mad Daio that seems to want to kill people. lol, he doesn't really seem to kill that many people, though we have a further amusing scene where Mama is going to give him a brain transplant to "cure" him... quite how she intends this to work isn't quite explained... This is not a good film by any stretch, it isn't scary at all! Although itdoes have a fair bit of gore (even if it does look very cheap) and it is amusing in quite a few places! Basically if you're the kind of person that likes good films avoid this, if you can find amusement in cheap rubbish then you'd probably enjoy the Boy from Hell. Though all in all I wouldn't go out of my way to find it! It's a shame they never had a little bit more money to spend on this!
